We regret that it was necessary to cancel the October 2013
Ten-Minute Play Project due to lack of sufficient registration
entries. Don't fret, there is still lots to do this weekend in
Vicksburg, including Classics in the Courtyard at the Southern
Cultural Heritage Center at noon on Friday followed by Hogtoberfest
at 7:30 p.m. and the classic western movie Tombstone at 8:30
Saturday has the Great Bear Affair in Rolling Fork, Treats on the
Street in Downtown, Bridging the Gap, BOO Festival, Ribbon cutting
for BOPS, Dr. Tobe Momah's Book signing at the Christian Bookstore
on S. Frontage Road, Spooky Pooch at Outlets of Vicksburg,
Germanfest at The Lutheran Church of the Messiah, Poetry Reading at
Lorelei Books, Welcome to Our Nightmare at the Vicksburg Mall, and
Rocky Horror Show at the Westside Theatre Foundation.
We're pleased to present a project to engage audiences and challenge
writers, directors, and actors, the Fifth-Annual VTG Ten-Minute Play
Project: Vampires, Zombies,
and Pirates Oh My! There's only one opportunity to see
these original works, written and rehearsed over a 24-hour period by
the area's best talent.
Based on similar projects at the Fondren Theatre Workshop in
Jackson, the Ten-Minute Play Project challenges the creativity of

7:00 pm All participants bring 1 prop and will meet at VTG for
introductions and orientation. Playwrights draw from a hat to
randomly select Directors and performance order. Directors draw
from a hat to randomly select Actors. Actors draw from a hat to
randomly select the prop/costumes to be incorporated into the play.
Actors are then released and Playwrights go home to begin writing.

9:00 am Playwrights arrive at Hawkins
copies of their finished scripts (ENOUGH FOR THE CAST and DIRECTOR,
AND one copy for VTG). If you are unable to provide copies, please
let VTG know so that arrangements can be made. Playwrights meet
with Directors and Actors for a first read-thru of the scripts.
Rehearsals begin at Hawkins Church.
6:00 pm All participants gather at VTG for further
rehearsals and a tech-through of each play. Directors will provide
a copy of the script with any light cues needed for the Light Board
7:00 pm Call for all participants, all shows
7:30 pm Curtain up!!!

and props. Writers will each select one director by lot. The VTG
will not be available for writing. Each play must include a
“Vampires, Zombies, and Pirates Oh My!” scenario, befitting the
Halloween season. The writers will inform VTG of the
titles and scenarios Saturday Morning. Writers will avoid foul
language and strong sexual references in their scripts.
