Children (of all ages) delighted to the fantasy tale of Bilbo, the Hobbit, as he became a reluctant adventurer in a quest to help Gandalf the Wizard and his rowdy dwarves reclaim their treasure from the evil dragon Smaug.

The stage was filled with trolls, goblins, elves, hobbits, a wizard, and a dragon as Bilbo discovered the inner courage to face the dreaded Smaug.

Directors Barry and Earlene McCleave held auditions on 15 and 16 July at the Parkside Playhouse to assemble a cast of 43 performers. They started rehearsals on 17 September to begin preparations for opening night on 9 November. The show was a big success, with large crowds for every performance and full houses the last two nights.
