Twelve short scenes and monologues create a vivid emotional tapestry of the South today, with scenes ranging from gentle comedy to intense drama. We see the entire human experience: love, poverty and stardom, ambition, family and tradition, death and hope, through the unique perspective of America’s southern states.
Auditions were held January 13 and 14. Cast: 13 men playing characters ages young adult (or teen) through 60s; and six women playing characters ages young adult (or teen) through 90s. The roles of an elderly woman, a young woman, and an adult male must be played by black actors. The roles of an elderly couple and a 40-ish man must be played by white actors. All other roles are not dependent on ethnicity.
We held a ceremony opening night to recognize Buddy Hallberg with the 2008 VTG Lifetime Achievement Award. Buddy has been acting onstage, here and elsewhere, since 1957 and is admired by generations of audiences and fellow actors. The Vicksburg Post had a nice article on March 16.
