We were pleased to present a project to engage audiences and challenge writers, directors, and actors, the First Annual VTG Ten-Minute Play Project: Into the Woods. There was only one opportunity to see these original works, written and rehearsed over a 24-hour period by the area's best talent: Saturday, April 10 at 7:30 p.m.
Based on similar projects at the Fondren Theatre Workshop in Jackson, the Ten-Minute Play Project challenged the creativity of all involved.
At a kick-off meeting on April 9, each participant brought a prop. The writers drew the names of directors at random, directors drew the names of their cast members, also at random, then everybody drew a prop.
The writers, directors, and actors met to identify each other and their props. The writers then went off to write their scripts with the requirement that they incorporate at least three of their available props and maintain a theme of “into the woods,” based on the backdrop that was chosen to use.
Writer, directors, and actors reassembled on April 10 at 9 a.m. to rehearse.
We hope the audience enjoyed the
results. Everything seen was created within the previous 24 hours.
